Community Benefits.

Jones Brothers (Henllan) Ltd are committed towards adding value to local economies as a result of any work opportunity. We support and embrace the aims of The Centre for Regeneration Excellence in Wales (CREW) in promoting sustainable regeneration practice. We welcome the use of the CREW toolkit on our contracts to formally measure the value of the socio-economic impact of our community benefits interventions.

We pride ourselves in supporting local communities at the grass root level and this core value is reflects within our Corporate Responsibility & Sustainability Policy. This results in direct and supply chain local sustainable employment opportunities, training, community initiatives and charitable donations.

We will always seek the following outcomes on our projects:

Community Engagement

We will engage all sectors of the community affected by any of our projects. Such engagement helps ensure that we understand any concerns which people have and that we endeavour to address such concerns during the construction process. Our entire workforce demonstrates empathy within the communities affected by our work activities by being responsive, reassuring and reliable at all times. This customer commitment is further enhanced by participation within the Considerate Constructor Scheme on all high profile projects.

Training and Employment Opportunities

We have historically looked for opportunities to recruit and train unemployed people, especially those groups facing challenges entering the labour market. We work within the Cyfle Scheme and are one of the founder members of CCTAL. We have also participated within framework led initiatives to create work training opportunities involving other framework partners, funded directly by the CITB. We are in particular eager to develop multi skilled apprentices which are a more rounded, sought after and valued resource in today’s job market. We have also entered into shared apprentice and training schemes with other framework contractors in order to pool resources which ensure that apprentices complete their training programme.

Our entire workforce of circa 110 people has appropriate CSCS and CPCS qualifications which are constantly monitored and updated. Our management team have a combination of NEBOSH, SMSTS and SSSTS safety accreditation. Our 2014 staff turnover was below 1% which we believe reflects the commitment provided to employees and in turn reciprocated.

We are also prepared to commit to championing new business start-up enterprises in collaboration with local business support agencies.

Supply Chain Opportunities

All our directly employed workforce and management team reside in South Wales which results in economic benefits to the region. We also engage a vast network of local suppliers and service providers on non-core specialist work activities.

Jones Brothers (Henllan) Ltd will always endeavour to source materials and suppliers within a projects defined local geographical area which results in clear economic benefits to those communities. We will also participate in ‘Meet the Buyer’ events on any significant contract award which promotes networking and helps other SME’s secure growth opportunities.

We will continue to work with schools and colleges to heighten awareness of the construction sector as a career option. This is achieved through work placement opportunities and school visits.
